“ I loved the ambiance here - lighting and energy were a good mix of relaxing and energetic. Service was very kind and surprisingly fast - at times too fast though, which made our table crowded. The quality of our dishes was great but the flourless cake and octopus definitely stood out. I would eat the cake any meal and any season! A note is that the music is way too loud - with the tables being pretty close to one another, I assume it is to dampen conversations but I we could barely hear each other. ”
“ Had such a good experience here for restaurant week! I went with a large group of friends and they were very accommodating to everyone dietary restrictions. Our group was large but they were not very helpful in accommodating to our reservation. They made us go in circles from booking online to an option that didnt exist. We ended up having to sit at two tables very far apart which was a bummer. The food itself was so good though. All the fish was fresh and the flavors worked well together. The vibe inside is great but the music was a little loud where it made it difficult to have a relaxing conversation. ”
“ Amazing upper end restaurant featuring intimate environment with beautiful decor. Servers were extremely nice and helpful and we also got free Champagne and cake! 1 - Uni (9.5/10) - first time trying uni, it has a very acquired taste and texture but it is delicious (or maybe I thought it was good because it was expensive). 2 - Maguro (8/10) - an interesting cold blend of bluefina tuna, garlic shoyu, turnip, puffed buckwheat. I liked the tuna but not the other stuff. 3 - Beef Tsukune Sliders (8.5/10) - ground wagyu, miso mustard, bao bun. Was pretty delicious but the beef was a little dry, flavor was immaculate though. 4 - Shio Koji Sake (9.5/10) - salmon, avocado yuzu mousse, salmon skin. Absolutely delicious except the avocado paste felt very artificial and not fresh due to the texture and taste, still went very will with the dish. 5 - (not pictured) Chahan (6/10) - stone bowl beef fried rice with wild maitake. I dislike dry fried rice and I'm also not the biggest fan of stone bowl when it crisps up the rice. ”
“ Everyone was super nice. They all knew what I was celebrating and it constantly came up in conversation. Food can feel hit or miss. I felt like the maki rolls were too dry. The assorted chef selection nigiri menu was amazing though. Bf loved the spaghetti. He said it was the best curry dish he ever had. The duck was pretty good and the skewer was fine. Ube mocktail drink is delicious like a smoothie with a little bit of cinnamon. For dessert I'd skip the Neko (cat) one. Not a huge fan of dark chocolate. The miso banoffee was amazing. I really loved the interior design. It's so pretty inside but can feel a little cramped. Definitely returning one day. ”
“ Momotaro is a great date night spot. One thing I want to emphasize is that they do sushi and non sushi items equally well. It's hard to find a place that specializes in sushi but then their hot food and other dishes are mid and vice versa. I wish we tried more rolls and their other nigiri as well. The hosts up front are lovely. They have staff circulating constantly anticipating any needs. Our server was very chill yet still attentive. I recommend getting the Tsukune Dango which was absolutely insane. You can't go wrong with any of their Robata Yaki but highly recommend the duck breast. For rolls, you must get the Shio Koji Sake with that stunning Avocado Yuzu mousse on top. Looking forward to our next meal here. We were too full to try dessert but would love to try one at our next visit. Momotaro has earned a spot on my top restaurants list where I know I'll have a great meal overall. ”
“ Picked this place out for its sushi but they offer so much more!!! Small tapas style dishes and our group of four ordered a little of EVERYTHING including 3 desserts and loved everything we ordered. Lots of unique flavor combos, all prepared to perfection. We sat upstairs in the executive suite and had outstanding service. Inside is modern and really nice too. If you are looking for a unique spot to get some amazing flavor combos you won't be disappointed here! ”
“ If you're looking for great sushi and izakaya meats in West Loop/Fulton Market, look no further than Momotaro! It's a cool, modern Japanese restaurant that features great food, ranging from fresh sushi and juicy roasted meats (the lamb chops are amazing). It fills up quickly, so be sure to make reservations ahead of time! ”
“ 4.5 Highlights: steak, chicken, cream puffs, and the shiitake sushi were great. Everything was good but those were my stand outs. The service and ambiance was great. Got super busy towards the later hours (6-8 PM) I def would come back and try other items. I think what we got was good but nothing crazy to come back for. ”
“ First time at Momotaro and loved it. Momotaro is a modern Japanese restaurant located in the West Loop. Japanese restaurant in Chicago. From the moment you enter to the time you leave, you are guaranteed to have a fantastic experience. Love the menu options and I liked that they have plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options as well. It's tapas style small plates that can be shared. Starting from Kuki To Buri, and Miso Soup to the Maneki Niko (dessert) everything tasted so fresh and wonderful. This is a super busy restaurant so get your reservations. Highly recommend this place. ”
